Rebecca's Blueberry Banana Smoothies

 MMMM!
Look at that Berry Frothy Glass of Deliciousness!

I should have poured more...

The Creator, enjoying her drink!

We all need to watch what we eat. We all went a little crazy over the holidays. We need to get back to eating properly when we come home from school. Normal after-school snacks in The Entertaining House include: yogurt, cheese, fruit and crackers, fruit, cheese and crackers, popcorn, cereal... stuff like that. You know, the b-o-r-i-n-g stuff. Actually, my 4 year old never complains. Just the older two.

So today Rebecca asked me to go to the store to get stuff for smoothies. Apparently she loves smoothies. Has them at Grace's all the time. I've heard this song and dance before. She loves something, I go buy the ingredients and suddenly it doesn't taste right. I've made smoothies before. She has never liked my smoothies.

But I need to find better ways to get healthy snacks back into these guys. So I listen to Rebecca and jot down her list of ingredients:

Frozen peaches,
Frozen blueberries
Frozen strawberries
Frozen bananas
Yogurt, specifically French Vanilla

And I came home with her list. Save for the bananas. I'm not sure they even sell them frozen! But I had several in my freezer to where they go as soon as they turn dark brown.

Rebecca came home from school ravenous, as usual. She was about to complain about my choices as she always does. Fruit is B-O-R-I-N-G. She won't touch dairy -- milk, yogurt or cheese. So when I told her I had been to the store and had eveything we needed for smoothies, her eyes lit up!

I got out the Waring Blender, a package of frozen blueberries, a frozen banana and the vanilla yogrut -- Stoneyfield Organic Fat free Vanilla yogurt, to be specific.

And I tossed:
2 cups frozen blueberries
2 cups yogurt
1 frozen banana, cut into chunks
into my blender and pulsed and pulsed and pulsed.
Until all was smooth and creamy.
Seriously, like a McDonald's shake. But WAY better!

I'm seeing a LOT of smoothies in my future... Oh what combination will we have tomorrow? Peaches? I need peaches!

We are HUGE fans of smoothies here. Sometimes I make them for breakfast, adding a little whey protein in. YUM! ~Lanie

P.S. LOVE the green in your kitchen!

Yum, I love smoothies. I used to make them all the time, loved them with Vanilla Soy milk too. As long as there are no ice cubes in it.
